When cargo ships arrive at the port of destination after thousands of nautical miles, there is still a difficult stretch ahead of them. This is where the harbor tugs come into play, taking command and safely pulling the huge ships to the landing stage. The tugs do not take cargo, but are used to move and maneuver large tankers and cargo ships. The small, robust, but very manoeuvrable ships have very powerful engines from 250 to several thousand horsepower. Their command bridges are designed as high superstructures in order to guarantee a good all-round view for safe guidance through the narrow port area, in accordance with their task. The stern, bow and side walls are usually reinforced and additionally equipped with wickerwork.
