The year was 1965. Phil Kraft, the man behind Kraft radios, needed a model that was quick and easy-to-build as a testbed for his radios. Little did he know he would design one of the most renowned models of all time - the Ugly Stik. Our Raider is part of our new Pirate Stik line, and it’s based on Phil’s proven design - with the same dimensions, airfoil, and great flying characteristics.

We have completely updated the airframe with laser-cut and self-aligning parts - we even include a wing jig to help you easily build both wing halves. The fuselage is built around a self-aligning, light-weight box for added strength. Surrounding this is the outer balsa skin, which is strong, light-weight, and twist-resistant even when performing high-stress maneuvers. The balsa/ply airframe makes the Raider an uncomplicated, lightweight, and easy-to-build aerobat.

The wing is removable, giving access to the extra-large cabin area. From there, you have easy access to install most any brand of radio and control linkages. We’ve also designed in a large hatch that covers the spacious battery/tank compartment.

What’s more, you have options right out of the box.
• Power it with Glow, Gas, or Electric.
• Ailerons and elevator can have Straight or traditional Scalloped edges.
• Make it a Tri-cycle or Tail-Dragger.
• You can even incorporate Flaps for even slower flight.

The best way to describe the Raider in the air is wide-ranging. With low throws and power, it can easily be used as an intermediate trainer. With average throws and power, it becomes a great every-day sport airplane. And with higher power and throws, the Raider becomes a great fun-fly machine, even capable of some precision aerobatics in the hands of an experienced pilot.

Our Old School Model Work's Raider is a Senior Pattern Association and Vintage R/C Society legal design for vintage and retro pattern competitions.

Premium USA Hardware - Included in each Old School Model Works kit is a premium hardware package. We only source our hardware from brand-name, USA manufacturers to guarantee the best quality.

Wing Jig included - Build both wings halves straight and true using the included wing jig.

WEB-LOCK Construction - There's nothing else like it. Our exclusive WEB-LOCK construction allows you to assemble the wings with a minimum amount of fuss.

Front hatch - The large top hatch gives you easy access to batteries or fuel.

Removable Tank/Battery Floor - To help with C.G. balancing, we made the tank floor removable in case you'd like to place the receiver battery or the motor's ESC in the space under the floor.

Optional Flaps - You can build the Raider with or without flaps.

Tri-cycle or Taildragger gear - Build your Raider with either a Tri-cycle or Taildragger main gear configuration.

Scalloped or Straight edges - Ailerons and elevator can be built with straight, or traditional Ugly Stick scalloped trailing edges.

Gas, Glow or Electric power - Power your Raider with your choice of power - gas, glow or electric.

SPA legal kit - Our Raider is a Senior Pattern Association qualifying design making it eligible for vintage/retro pattern competition.

VRCS legal kit - Our Raider is a Vintage R/C Society qualifying design making it eligible for vintage/retro pattern competition.

We have teamed up with Innov8tive Designs to provide suggestions for anyone wanting to convert our OSMW kits to electric power. Innov8tive is a well known and very reputable supplier of high quality electric motors, ESC's, LiPo battery packs as well as other products.

They have provided us this list of suggested motors, ESC's, batteries and props for each of our kits. You'll find that information, along with their computed specs (watts, RPM, thrust, etc.) when using either their BadAss or Cobra power systems. The Cobra power systems are usually less expensive and the BadAss systems are typically have the higher performance. Both choices are shown so you can choose between these brands and pick the one that's right for you.
